REGISTRATION FOR THIS EVENT HAS CLOSED.

The Chatham Area Public Library invites you to a film screening and discussion of the documentary Driving While Black: Race, Space, and Mobility in America. Registration is Required by September 19th.

We are inviting the Chatham community (ages 18+) to view and discuss this documentary which explores how the advent of the automobile brought new mobility and freedom for African Americans but also exposed them to discrimination and deadly violence, and how that history resonates today.

Film Viewing: Friday, September 24 at 6:30 pm

Discussion: Saturday, September 25 at 9:30 am

Participants will receive a free copy of the book "Driving While Black: African American Travel and the Road to Civil Rights" by Gretchen Sorin and a gift card to a black-owned restaurant.
